Setting an Intention: A Little Moment Just for You

Setting an Intention: A Little Moment Just for You

Setting an Intention: A Little Moment Just for You 🩷

Have you ever stopped for a moment and asked yourself, "What do I really need right now?"

Not what everyone else needs from you.

Not what's next on your never-ending to-do list.

But what you need.

Sometimes, we get so caught up in the busyness of everyday life that we forget to check in with ourselves.

And that's where setting an intention can be a lovely little practice.

So, What Exactly Is an Intention?

An intention is simply something you choose to focus on or invite into your life.

It's not quite the same as setting a goal.

A goal is often about achieving something specific, like finishing a project or reaching a milestone.

An intention is more about how you'd like to feel, what you'd like to nurture, or how you'd like to approach your experiences.

For example, instead of setting a goal to eliminate all stress from your life, you might choose the intention:

"I am open to finding moments of peace."

There's no pressure to achieve perfection.

It's simply a gentle reminder of what matters to you.

Why We Set Intentions at Healing Hertz

At Healing Hertz, setting an intention is one of the ways we begin our sound healing journey.

Before the instruments start playing, I like to invite you to take a moment to connect with yourself.

Maybe you've been feeling overwhelmed and would like to welcome more calm into your day.

Maybe you're navigating a difficult chapter and want to reconnect with a sense of hope.

Or maybe you simply want to give yourself permission to rest.

Whatever it is, your intention is personal to you.

You don't have to share it out loud unless you want to.

And if you're not sure what your intention should be, that's perfectly okay too.

The Power of Positive Language

One approach I enjoy is encouraging intentions that begin with the words "I am."

Rather than focusing entirely on what we don't want, we can gently shift our attention toward what we'd like to invite into our lives.

For example:

  • Instead of "I don't want to feel stressed," try "I am open to feeling calm."
  • Instead of "I don't want to feel stuck," try "I am welcoming new possibilities."
  • Instead of "I don't want to feel disconnected," try "I am reconnecting with myself."
  • Instead of "I don't want to feel overwhelmed," try "I am allowing myself moments of peace."

Your intention doesn't need to be complicated.

It just needs to feel meaningful to you.

And if positive statements don't feel comfortable or believable right now, that's okay. You can choose something gentler, like "I'm willing to explore what peace might feel like."

Bringing Your Intention Into a Sound Journey

Once you've chosen an intention, you're invited to carry it gently into your sound healing experience.

As you listen to the tones and vibrations of the instruments, you might quietly return to your intention whenever it feels natural.

You don't need to concentrate on it the entire time.

You don't need to repeat it perfectly.

And you certainly don't need to force yourself to feel a particular way.

Your mind might wander, thoughts might come and go, or you might simply become absorbed in the sounds.

That's all part of your experience.

An intention is something you can return to, not another task you have to get right.

A Little Energy Awareness

At Healing Hertz, I also incorporate energy awareness into my approach.

For me, this means taking time to notice how we're feeling, where our attention is going, and what we might need in the moment.

You might notice that you're carrying tension in your shoulders, feeling mentally scattered, or craving a little quiet time.

There's no need to judge those feelings or immediately change them.

Sometimes, simply becoming aware of our experience can help us make more intentional choices about how we care for ourselves.

Intentions Aren't Just for Sound Baths

One of the beautiful things about intention-setting is that you can practise it almost anywhere.

You might take a moment in the morning before starting your day.

You might pause before a difficult conversation.

Or you might choose an intention while enjoying a quiet cup of tea.

It doesn't have to become another complicated wellness routine.

Sometimes, just a few seconds of reflection can be enough to remind yourself what matters.

Your Intention, Your Journey

At Healing Hertz, I believe everyone has their own rhythm, their own story, and their own path.

There's no perfect intention.

There's no right or wrong way to experience sound healing.

And there's no expectation that you need to arrive feeling calm, confident, or completely in control of your life.

You're welcome exactly as you are.

So the next time life feels a little noisy, perhaps take a moment to ask yourself:

"What would I like to invite into my life today?"

Whatever your answer, let it be something that feels kind, meaningful, and true to you.
