Recovery, Self-Compassion, and Finding Your Own Rhythm 🩷
Life doesn't always follow the path we imagined.
Sometimes we find ourselves facing challenges we never expected. Sometimes we're trying to rebuild, rediscover who we are, or simply figure out what comes next.
And sometimes, just getting through the day feels like an accomplishment.
Whether you're navigating addiction recovery, mental health challenges, past trauma, or a difficult chapter in your life, one thing is worth remembering:
You don't have to have everything figured out to be moving forward.
Recovery Isn't Always a Straight Line
There's a common idea that personal growth should be a steady climb toward something better.
But life rarely works that way.
Some days feel hopeful and full of possibility. Other days bring uncertainty, frustration, or old feelings we thought we'd left behind.
Progress can look different from one day to the next.
Through both my own lived experiences and my professional background in mental health support, I've come to appreciate that everyone's journey is unique.
There isn't one perfect timeline, one correct path, or one definition of what healing should look like.
And comparing your journey to someone else's doesn't always leave much room to appreciate how far you've already come.
The Importance of Self-Compassion
We're often much harder on ourselves than we would ever be on someone we care about.
Think about it.
If a friend was struggling, would you tell them they weren't doing enough? That they should have everything figured out by now?
Probably not.
You'd likely offer understanding, encouragement, and a little kindness.
So why can it be so difficult to offer ourselves that same compassion?
Self-compassion doesn't mean pretending everything is okay or avoiding responsibility.
It means recognizing that you're human.
You're allowed to have difficult days.
You're allowed to need support.
And you're allowed to take things one step at a time.
Finding Your Own Rhythm
At Healing Hertz, I often talk about finding your own rhythm.
To me, that means recognizing that we all move through life differently.
Some people find comfort in quiet reflection. Others connect through music, movement, creativity, nature, or spending time with people they love.
There's no single formula for feeling connected to yourself.
Sometimes, finding your rhythm starts with something incredibly simple.
Taking a few slow breaths.
Listening to a favourite song.
Sitting quietly with a cup of tea.
Or giving yourself permission to rest without feeling guilty about it.
These moments don't erase life's challenges, but they can offer opportunities to pause and reconnect.
Where Sound Healing Fits In
One of the reasons I was drawn to sound healing is that it offers a different kind of experience.
You don't have to find the right words.
You don't have to explain your past.
And you don't have to arrive feeling peaceful or positive.
During a sound healing session, you're invited to get comfortable, listen to the sounds and vibrations of different instruments, and notice whatever comes up for you.
Some people find the experience relaxing. Others appreciate having dedicated time away from everyday responsibilities.
Everyone's experience is different, and that's okay.
Sound healing isn't addiction treatment, trauma therapy, or a replacement for professional mental health support.
But it may be one of the many wellness practices someone chooses to explore as part of their personal journey.
You Are More Than Your Difficult Chapters
Something I feel strongly about is that our challenges don't have to define our entire identity.
A person is more than their diagnosis.
More than their past.
More than their mistakes.
More than the difficult experiences they've lived through.
We all have stories, strengths, hopes, and possibilities that deserve room to grow.
And sometimes, reconnecting with those parts of ourselves begins by creating a little space to simply be.
Come As You Are
At Healing Hertz, I want people to feel welcome regardless of where they are in life.
You don't need to have reached a particular milestone.
You don't need to be having a good day.
And you certainly don't need to have everything figured out.
Whether you're navigating recovery, exploring your personal wellness, or simply looking for a peaceful moment in a busy world, you're welcome here.
Your journey is yours.
Your rhythm is yours.
And you deserve compassion along the way.
